Did You Eat Your Breakfast?
Breakfast is important no matter how much you weigh.
A very thorough study presented at this summer’s Endocrine Society Meeting (2013) showed that the same obese women who skipped breakfast had a greater degree of Insulin resistance resulting in higher sugar, fatty acids, triglycerides, and Insulin levels mid-day compared to levels tested on a different day after eating breakfast. We know that obese patients are prone to prolonged Insulin Resistance and Type 2 Diabetes. This study affirms the importance of a well balanced breakfast even if you are overweight and the potential to help improve metabolism and further reduce Insulin Resistance and Type 2 Diabetes.
