Consider Nuvaring for Birth Control
Once the patient has been properly educated on the insertion and ease of use of the Nuvaring (vaginal ring for birth control), she is more inclined to try the vaginal ring and find it to be an extremely satisfactory method of birth control. Comprehensive studies have shown it to be comparable to the Birth Control Pill (BCP) in its effectiveness and rate of acceptance (99.5% and 96% respectively). In addition, it has been shown to be associated with less irregular bleeding concerns than the BCP. Although it has been marketed as a cyclic method, it is being used back to back (no break between ring use) to limit the number of menses and extend the blood free days between menses, just like an extended use BCP.
