Breastfeeding May Reduce Your Baby’s Doctor Visits
The very make up of breast milk is amazing! It contains all the important ingredients to provide for a healthier happier baby. Breast milk contains immunoglobulin A and macrophages which coat the intestines, keeping unwanted bacteria from being absorbed as well as giving the baby a stronger immune system to fight off infection. Breast milk also contains a form of lactose which helps increase a beneficial bacteria in the intestines called Lactobacillus, creating a healthier intestinal tract. Breast milk is lighter and thinner and is emptied from the baby’s stomach more rapidly than formula.
With all these benefits, it is no wonder that numerous studies show that babies who are breast fed have less problems with diarrhea, ear infections, and GER(regurgitation), and wind up in the pediatrician’s office less often.
