Doctor, Is Endometriosis Causing Problems with Conceiving?
If you are having severe cramping with your periods, which is not relieved by anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Aleve, etc.), or all other potential causes of infertility are ruled out, it is certainly possible that you have endometriosis. This can cause infertility. It is important to realize that there is no consensus as to whether mild endometriosis is a true cause of infertility. The best chance of achieving pregnancy is within 3-6 months of surgical removal. For this reason, it is prudent to complete the entire work up (see infertility post) prior to undergoing surgery, unless your pain is severe.
